Welcome to Global Health Otherwise, where we rethink and reshape the global health narrative.
Global Health Otherwise is a bold platform dedicated to challenging the status-quo in global public health conceptualization, scholarship and practice. We are intention and proactive in amplifying suppressed narratives in global health—stories and perspectives often overlooked by mainstream institutions and funders. Here, epistemic (knowledge) pluralityis not just a value but a foundation: we showcase hidden global health heroes, foreground the centrality of communities in research and agenda setting, and insist that their voices are non-negotiable in driving meaningful, ethical, and sustainable change.
At Global Health Otherwise, we hold firm that meaningful decolonization requires constant interrogation:
“𝗧𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆, 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲, 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲, 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝘀, 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮.
𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗺, 𝗯𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗺, 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗺!!!”
